Our 2-5 room provides various beneficial opportunities such as loose parts (imaginative and creative play), art and craft/messy play, role play, literacy and numeracy, construction, science, and a story corner. Activities which are planned around children’s interests and ideas also help the children become more fully engaged in their learning. Children are encouraged to look at our Well-being Wheel indicators in order to talk about feeling Safe, Included, Responsible, Respected, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, and Healthy.
Children’s opinions are also important with regards to preparing our snack menu. By adhering to ‘Setting the Table’ standards, we are trying to encourage healthy eating, therefore children are encouraged to choose healthy snacks. Our qualified staff also make learning fun and often participate in singing and dance sessions with the children. Sing and Sign and “Jessie Cat” also make regular appearances in our 2-5 room.
There are also plenty of opportunities for parents/carers to be involved in their child's learning. Such as;
Sun safety
During the summer months, we require that all children have a sunhat. We ask parents to supply a high factor sun cream for their child, which can be kept at the nursery.
